"Usenet is like a herd of performing elephants with diarrhea -- massive, difficult to redirect, awe-inspiring, entertaining, and a source of mind-boggling amounts of excrement when you least expect it."
- Gene Spafford, 1992

"Real programmers key object code directly into the ROM burner."
- Oliver, 1984

According to groups.google.com, my first contribution to Usenet was July 10, 1984. I guess that makes me an old phart.

The Menu plugin from pigstye.net is a good general purpose, configurable menu for Geeklog. It supports expandable/collapsible items, and doesn't use the little plus and minus signs that I personally find difficult to hit reliably. This is the plugin I use for this website and the family website (link at left).

Unfortunately, out of the box it doesn't work with PHP versions 4.3.9-3 and later. This article will show the changes necessary to make it work, and provide some configuration tips.

TechnicalCygwin is a popular port of Unix commands and the X Window System to Microsoft Windows. (www.cygwin.com)

Symptoms: After an upgrade, or at some seemingly random time, Cygwin will stop working with the error "you may be using the wrong version of cygwin1.dll".
